Meet your hosts
In 2000, Mitchell Taylor was appointed Managing Director of Taylors Wines, following in the footsteps of his father Bill Taylor and grandfather Bill Taylor Snr.
Born and raised in Sydney, Mitchell began his Bachelor of Commerce at the University of New South Wales in 1982, shortly after completing high school. Upon graduating in 1984, Mitchell moved to London and worked in a large stockbroking firm, where he gained valuable business experience. In 1988, Mitchell’s passion for the wine industry led him back to Australia. He officially joined Taylors Wines, working across all facets of the family business, from export and finance director to winemaker. Mitchell completed vintages as a winemaker from 89-97 while studying for his Bachelor of Science – Oenology at Charles Sturt University, which he completed in 1995.
Today, Mitchell oversees all aspects of the business. An experienced winemaker, Mitchell maintains a very hands-on role at the winery, supervising all winemaking activities to ensure the quality and consistency of all Taylors wine is maintained.
Anthony Puharich knows meat. As the co-owner of Vic's Premium Quality Meat & Victor Churchill, he has an established reputation as one of Australia's leading butchers and entrepreneurs. Few people share his knowledge and passion for all things meat.
Anthony’s expertise and enthusiasm has seen him regularly appear in Australian media, culminating in his own Lifestyle FOOD program, Ask the Butcher.
The Taylor Family’s wine journey started back in the 1950s when the South Australian Wine Distributors company was formed. This family-owned business bottled and distributed wines for the Clare Valley co-operative. Led by Bill Taylor Snr, and his two sons, Bill and John, the family’s passion for wine inspired them to try and create stunning wines of their own. Motivated by the great ‘old world’ winemakers of Europe and in particular Château Mouton Rothschild, they set out to find the perfect piece of land in Australia to establish a vineyard in the Taylor’s name. In 1969, after a considerable search, they found a promising 178-hectare site by the Wakefield River in the Clare Valley. Today there are four Taylor family members actively involved in the business. Second Generation Bill Taylor is Deputy Chairman, Mitchell Taylor is Managing Director and Third generation Winemaker, Clinton Taylor is General Manager Winery Operations and Justin Taylor is Export Manager.
In 2017 Taylors Wines was awarded the #1 winery in the world by the World Association of Wine Writers and Journalists. From more than 50,000 producers and 700,000 wines, Taylors wines was ranked most awarded winery across the top 80 international wine competitions.
