Rich, powerful and dramatic, Alfred Gratien Champagne is all the things good Champagne should be. The perfect choice for celebrating, it sparkles to life as it’s poured, with a lively effervescence of small bubbles that are quick to rise and tickle the palate.
The effervescence however, never overwhelms the delicate sweet pastry, biscuit and orchard fruit notes or the hints of citrus, fragrant white flowers and fresh butter that follow. Aside from Krug, Gratien are the only other major Champagne house to ferment in oak barrels, which lends a distinctive nutty, brioche aroma.
The finish is crisp, with a slight mineral undertone which leaves an excellently balanced acidic aftertaste and a sugar component that’s near on perfect.
Alfred Gratien Champagne is great Champagne for all occasions - but who needs an occasion?
