Margaret River, WA

The wine capital of WA, Margaret River's maritime environment provides a consistent climate perfect for producing elegant wines. Despite production being small, the region accounts for more than 15% of Australia's premium wines, includes brands Voyager Estate, Vasse Felix and Cullen.

Mornington Peninsula

Hunter Valley, NSW

Explore a region that has been growing grapes since 1828. Popular for gourmet festivals and concerts. It boasts more than 60 cafes and restaurants, and 120 cellar doors, the region is best known for its aged semillons, shiraz and brands including Brokenwood, Tyrells and First Creek

Barossa Valley, SA

Home to world-renowned producers including Penfolds, Henschke and Yalumba - the Barossa has been named on The New York Times' "must-see" destinations in Australia. It is best known for its assertive reds made from shiraz and grenache grapes.

Tamar Valley, Tas

The Tamar Valley is Tasmania's leading wine region. Stretching over 170km it includes well known names such as Tamar Ridge, Jansz and Bay of Fires. Tamar Valley varieties of note are chardonnay, riesling, sauvignon blanc, pinot gris and pinot noir.

Canberra

The Canberra region is dotted with more than 30 wineries (many of which are actually in NSW), including two that rank among the best in the country: Clonakilla, which put the shiraz viognier blend on the map in Australia, and riesling pioneer Helm Wines.

McLaren Vale

The Fleurieu Peninsula, of which McLaren Vale is the wine heartland, is just a 45-minute drive south of Adelaide and is blessed with a beautiful coastline and vineyards that produce some of Australia’s gutsiest, most flavoursome red wines. Leading wineries include Oliver's Taranga, d'Arenberg and Coriole.

Yarra Valley

Known for its sparkling wines, stellar chardonnays and outstanding pinot noirs, It has become a draw card for  producers attracted to its diverse influences, which include both Mediterranean and continental climates and a number of soil types. Must visit wineries include Yering Station, Oakridge and Giant Steps.

Clare Valley

Nestled high in the Mount Lofty Ranges, the picturesque Clare Valley has a secret. With a combination of surprising elevation and ancient sedimentary soils, the region is famous for riesling, but lesser known are the equally exceptional shiraz and cabernet sauvignon. Why not visit Jim Barry, Petaluma or Taylors.
