Hewitson Old Garden Mourvedre 2020

Planted in 1853 Old Garden Vineyard is renowned as the oldest Mourvèdre vines on Earth. These original vines, ungrafted and pre-Phylloxera, have been hand tended and dry-farmed by Friedrich Koch and his direct descendants across three centuries.

Hewitson Monopole Shiraz Mother Vine 2019

Exclusively owned by Hewitson, this Selection Clona from one 1853 Shiraz vine resurrects an ancient pre-Phylloxera Shiraz clone. This wine showcases a palate filled with intense mulberry, raspberry, chocolate and seamlessly integrated tannins.

3 Vintages Hewitson Monopole Shiraz Mother Vine

The Mother Vine wines are sourced exclusively from one 1853 shiraz vine found in the middle of The Old Garden vineyard. Over many years Hewitson have harvested the buds from this one Shiraz vine and grafted them onto roots growing at the winery. They now have one Hectare of an ancient pre-Phylloxera ‘Selection Clonale’ exclusively from this 1853 vine with its own unique flavour and tannin profile. Enjoy a trio of vertical vintages including 2018, 2019 and 2020.

Single Vineyard. Gun Metal describes the greycoloured vineyard stone as well as the wine’s  steely minerality and gun-powder dryness.

Hewitson Truffle Row Carignan Syrah 2022

Truffle Row takes its name from the row of hazelnut trees  growing at the winery, on whose roots are infused with  the spores of the famous and rare black truffle. The wine  is a blend of harmonious red varieties that are typically  grown and vinified together in other similar climatic  regions throughout the Old and New Worlds. Traditional  wine making, very much aligned with our ethos of  old-world inspiration with a new-world attitude, followed  by maturation in old French oak barriques for twelve  months has brought to fruition this gorgeous blend of 45%  Carignan, 34% Syrah and 21% Cinsault

Hewitson Shiraz The Mad Hatter 2021

Wine with breeding- responsive, evolutionary  winemaking that’s never locked into a formula.  The Mad Hatter is not a reference to Alice in  Wonderland, rather it is the nickname Dean Hewitson’s  closest friends have called him for many years. And why  mad? Anyone who has spent more than five minutes  with Hewitson will surely be able to explain. The Mad  Hatter is Dean’s Shiraz interpretation where he chooses  and blends from the premium parcels of fruit each year  to best express the quality of vintage. Dean strives for  balance, structure, concentration, power and of course  breeding when selecting the final blend.

Miss Harry is named after Winemaker  Dean Hewitson’s daughter Harriet.

Hewitson Baby Bush Mourvedre 2021

The 'baby' mourvèdre vines were established in 1998 from cuttings off the epic 1853-planted Old Garden vineyard. Lots of colour and lots of fruit depth for babies! Rich dark plum, blueberry and black cherry fruits with hints of turned earth, light bramble tones, graphite, dark spice, roasting meats and charcuterie. There is a wee whiff of choc-mint way off in the distance, too, with an impressive fruit density, tight granite dust tannins and bright acid drive finishing pure and savoury.

The Hewitson Monopole Shiraz Mother Vine 2018 features aromas of rich black fruit with floral notes. The palate showcases flavors of intense mulberry and raspberry with notes of chocolate and seamlessly integrated tannins.</p>
