It will come as no surprise that Clare and Keith use these wines as their benchmark for Ribbon Vale. The technique of production is classic Bordeaux. In the vineyard yields are moderate and all activities are done by hand, including picking. The wine is made in small batches, hand-plunged and then pressed to 225 litre French oak barrels, where it is aged for more than 2 years.
This leads to production of full flavoured, complex wines, very much in keeping with Right Bank. Clare & Keith can proudly point to their library of old wines and show their fastidious approach will produce merlot wines proven to cellar for more than 20 years. The Mugfords are more than happy for it to be judged against any wine in this style, from anywhere in the world, at any age.
The average price per bottle is only available in a case of 12.
