The village of Bethany was the first settlement in the Barossa Valley, established in 1842. The first vines on Bethany Estate were planted in 1852, the beginning of a passion and tradition that continues on today within the Schrapel family, six generations later. First Village reflects the folkloric style of Bethany’s German heritage, and depicts scenes telling the story of the establishment of the village. Bring a bottle to the next family dinner and draw out some stories from your heritage.

”Significantly different in personality to its stern old-vine sibling Blue Quarry, First Village represents the joyous nexus of modern Australian Grenache: a playful celebration of fresh red berries on the front palate, but with grip and growl in the tail. This ensures serious structure focused on line, length and purity. Cherry cola and wild raspberry notes are kept in check by sandy tannins. An alluring, arresting beauty.”
