Bethany Wines are a family-owned winery, steeped in the history of the Barossa. German ancestor Johann Gottlob Schrapel arrived with his family from Silesia in 1844, establishing Bethany as the first settlement in the area, hence the name of the range ‘First Village’. Planting vines in 1852, the family grew grapes for the next four generations, until the modern incarnation of Bethany was founded in 1981, and they began to produce their own wines. First Village Chardonnay is densely packed with flavour and texture, the perfect accompaniment to seafood dishes, First Village Shiraz features body and intensity with dark fruit and fine-grained tannin.
