The original European settlers in the Barossa township of Tanunda, where St Hallett winery resides, were known as Blockheads. The origins of the Blockhead name are most commonly linked to their stoic, square jawed character and dedication to the land. At the winery, and amongst their descendants, the title is worn as a badge of honour. The Blockhead range is designed to tell their story to a new generation, combining 74 years of St Hallett winemaking expertise with the fruitful drinkability of contemporary Australian Shiraz.

”A blend of 74/30/3/3% shiraz/grenache/touriga/other varieties, the grenache from the south and all other varieties from the central and northern subregions. Plenty of dark and black berry fruit notes, some moody spice and dark chocolate, a light wash of purple floral high notes, fine sandy tannins and a good serving of inherent drinkability. The Blockhead is bang on the money.”
