The 2019 Whistler 'Estate' Shiraz/Cabernet grown on our Estate at Whistler Wines, Barossa Valley, is a combination of our original plantings from 1994, with three different clones of Shiraz Kalimna 3c, 1654 and BVRC30. The Cabernet Sauvignon is clone D3V14 planted in 1997 on a lovely south east facing slope with lots of broken quartz in the soil.

”70% 1994-planted shiraz, 30% 1997 planted cabernet sauvignon. From estate vines in Stone Well. Wild fermented; foot stomped; basket pressed; matured 18 months in 20% new French and American oak hogsheads; unfined. Shiraz and cabernet interlock to compelling effect here, subsuming any evidence of where one ends and the other commences. Blackberry and black cherry fruit pops with crunchy acidity, fine-grained tannins and nicely restrained oak. A strong vintage for Whistler, promising medium-term potential.”
