Dark fruit pastille aromas, plum and vanillin oak in the background. Sweet fruit entry on the palate, dark chocolate and a medium to full-bodied mouth feel. A stylish shiraz and one to age over the long term.

Coriole Aroona Estate Shiraz 2023

This is vibrant McLaren Vale shiraz at its best. The Aroona vineyard is located in the foothills of the Willunga range. The soils are a stony loam and contain the remnants of the mountains that were once as high as the Himalayas! The vines range in age from 99 to 25 years old. The vineyard typically produces aromatic wines with fine tannin and a full yet soft palate.

The cooler season provided a natural freshness that balances the richness that we get from old vine Shiraz at MMAD Vineyard.

SC Pannell Old McDonald Grenache 2020

It is unusual and rare to find 100% Grenache wines, as most of the time it is blended. Stephen has been making a varietal Grenache from McLaren Vale for the past 22 years and can now provocatively state that he thinks it ages more gracefully than McLaren Vale Shiraz. Grenache will become McLaren Vale’s most recognised wine and our true wine of place.

Koomilya GT Shiraz 2021

A single block shiraz from 33-year-old vines grafted on gewurztraminer planted in 1974 by Jill and Don Cant, the previous owners. Grown on ancient, dark grey slaty siltstone laminated with ironstone facing South at an altitude of 116m. The last block to be restored to health, GT stands for grafted or gewurztraminer.

Heirloom Adelaide Hills Tempranillo 2019

The 2019 Heirloom Adelaide Hills Tempranillo offers classic tempranillo aromatics of black cherry, pepper, cherry pip, African Violets, cola nut and spearmint. This wine is juicy yet dry on the palate, but then again tempranillo is a creature of split, multiple personalities. At each stage of the palate there is an interplay with fruit and acid and tannin. The final highlight is the never-ending length of the wine.

Heirloom McLaren Vale Shiraz 2021

This Heirloom Vineyards Shiraz was sourced from our neighbours the McMurtrie Family’s extraordinary and low yielding old vines, just adjacent to the Salopian Inn, where Ross McMurtrie, Vigneron was born. Hand tended vines, sorted bunch by bunch, naturally open fermented, with regular hand plunging and gentle pumping over to extract colour, flavour and tannin. Aged in some new but mainly 3 and 4 year one-year old French and Bulgarian oak barriques for 16 months.  Shiraz can be a simple sip or a symphony of the senses, a moment of pleasure or an eternity of contemplation. Only the poet can know, so stop thinking and surrender.
