Riesling and semillon are two underrated varieties that can produce exceptional, long-lived wines. In their youth they are bright, zesty and aromatic. With age they become more luscious and textured. We've picked six great value and versatile styles for you to enjoy (all rated in the Halliday Wine Companion). In particular there are two standout rieslings, both rated 96 points; A.T. Richardson Riesling Chockstone 2021, one of the rising stars of Victoria's famous Grampians wine region. This riesling is vibrant and youthful with wildflowers, citrus blossom, kiwi fruit and a distinct minerality. The Clare Valley's Jim Barry Florita Riesling 2015 (RRP $55) is an aged cellar release that still looks youthful despite its age and will continue to reward for generations to come.
