German migrant Wolfgang Blass arrived in the Barossa in 1961, a winemaking diploma in one hand, a few coins in the other. So began a classic rags-to-riches journey that would see him become one of the Barossa’s biggest names. He has stated before that “the Barossa should focus on what it does best: full-bodied shiraz.” And that’s exactly what his label continues to do.
