The Balvenie 19 YO A Revelation of Cask and Character 700ml

The ninth in The Balvenie’s highly regarded ‘Stories’ series, this is the first to be fully matured in Sherry casks. A first release from David C Stewart MBE’s protégée, newly appointed Malt Master Kelsey McKechnie, this rich expression hails the dawn of a new era for The Balvenie.

The Balvenie 14 YO The Stories American Bourbon Barrel Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

The Balvenie 14 Year Old American Bourbon Barrel Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the latest limited-edition Stories release.  The whisky has a subtle smoky flavour, picked up from being distilled straight after peat week. The barley is not peated at all. This collection tells the story of the collaboration between Kelsey McKechnie, Malt Master and George Paterson, Samples Coordinator that uses some of our rarest and most interesting whisky at the distillery.

The Balvenie 14 YO Caribbean Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

The Balvenie Caribbean Cask 14 year old single malt whisky has been matured in traditional oak whisky casks for 14 years, and then ‘finished’ in casks that previously held Caribbean rum. To create the ideal finish Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE filled American oak casks with his own blend of select West Indian rums. When he judged the casks to be ready, the rum was replaced with the 14 year old spirit and the wood was put to work adding the final touches. The result is an exceptional single malt whisky with the traditional smooth, honeyed character of The Balvenie married with notes of toffee and a hint of fruit, with a warm, lingering finish. 

The Balvenie 18 YO The Stories French Pineau Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

Released in September 2024, The Balvenie 18YO French Pineau Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky is the latest limited-edition Stories release.  The original experiment by David Stewart to finish The Balvenie in French Pineau Casks were discovered by Kelsey after 8 years in Pineau, to find they had really developed into something incredible.

The Balvenie 21 Year Old Portwood Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

Balvenie 21 Year Old PortWood is an exceptional Single Malt Whisky, expertly refined over many years to reach the pinnacle of full rounded characterful taste perfection. Malt Master David Stewart, who has worked at the Distillery for over half a century is responsible for crafting the whisky in a single distillation and ageing it for 21 years in port casks to enhance and enrich the full boded single malt, whilst preserving its original characteristics. To ensure that just the right amount of character is imparted by the port casks, he samples the whisky regularly. Considered by many to be David&rsquo;s finest creation, this whisky is one of his proudest achievements and has won an array of highly coveted industry awards since its release in 1996.
SERVING SUGGESTION: Serve neat or with a couple of drops of water (to bring out the flavours), or over ice.

The Balvenie 16 Year Old French Oak Pineau Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

The Balvenie French Oak is a vibrant single malt finished in casks previously held wine from the French Charentes vineyards. Pineau des Charentes is a fortified wine made from unfermented grape juice, to which a Cognac eau-de-vie is added and then matured. Pineau us also found as a home-made product in the neighbouring Deau-Sevres and Vendee departements. The Balvenie USA brand ambassador Lorne Cousin suggested Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE explore these casks after a trip to the region with his family where he fondly remembers sipping an aperitif. This is the first of The Balvenie finishes to explore French Oak. Pineau is akin to cognac in terms of production and flavour, allowing us to capitalise on the rise of this flavour profile and its premium credentials.

The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 YO Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml

A classic, iconic release, launched in 1993. This whisky has spent 12 years in traditional whisky casks, American oak ex-bourbon barrels and hogsheads. Mellowing the maturing spirit and imparting warming layers of vanilla spiciness. This is then moved to Spanish oak ex-Oloroso sherry casks for an additional nine months to increase complexity, bringing fruity, honeyed depths to the resulting Single Malt. Finally the whisky is then transferred to large oak vessels called “tuns” for 3-4 months to allow the whiskies to “marry” the whisky’s. This is an excellent introduction to a matured whisky for your collection and would also make the perfect whisky gift for a loved one.
