Classic blend of grapes from various old vineyards in South Australia. The animal heads in this range were meant to represent something about the character of the wine. When Thistledown produced the first vintage of this they felt it was the best wine they had made at this level, so chose an elephant, as the wine is unforgettable and an elephant never forgets.

Grenache is Australias signature grape variety and Thistledown are slightly obsessed with it. Utilising a range of premium vineyards across South Australia, we have crafted a wine that captures all that is good about Grenache. Aromatic, deceptively light but with beautiful wild fruit, and slurpy, supple tannins.

This wine is mainly sourced from higher altitude sites in the Eden region of the Barossa, and the name is meant to represented the energy and freshness which fruit from this region produces.

This single vineyard wine comes from one of the oldest Grenache vineyards in McLaren Vale. The wine is a homage to grower Bernard Smart, pictured on the label, and his family. His father, and his brother, planted the oldest part of the vineyard in 1921.
