Merite Wrattonbully Malbec 2016 is an Australian cool climate expression of Argentine clones of Malbec. New to Australia, Argentine clones can create smaller berries, creating a wine with more complex flavours and aromas. The Merite vineyard is located in Wrattonbully, the northern neighbour to Coonawarra. This moreish and exciting new wine is the perfect conversation starter over dinner with friends.
Fine domestic malbec of boysenberry, violet and minty scents, sophisticated in its swathe of moreish, middle-weight tannins and the integration of oak, again, a United Nations of origins (30% new). Vannilla, cedar and bitter chocolate find a welcome companion in malbec's generous girth. The tannins are this estate's calling card: finely turned and on just the right side of grit. Wine Companion tasting note (2018).
The average price per bottle is only available in a case of 12.
