When Qantas asked Woodlands to make a wine that celebrated Australian wine they decided it had to be a barrel-fermented chardonnay. It’s the variety that launched Woodlands to the world, and has brought wine lovers back again and again as it developed over the years.
Woodlands was established in 1973 by David and Heather Watson in the Wilyabrup Valley, located in the heart of the Margaret River region. This wine is made solely from fruit grown in this valley. Chardonnay is really at home on Australia’s coasts where they develop bright, complex, full flavours. Harvested and fermented without additions to capture Margaret River’s coastal purity, this chardonnay was then matured in barrel for 11 months.
