Sourced from single vineyard block - "Overland Track" located towards the southern end of the Coonawarra Strip, south of Penola. Named after the overland trek made by approximately 17,000 chinese migrants between 1857 and 1862 during the Australian Gold Rush, starting in Robe on the South Australian coast and finishing in the Victorian Gold Fields. The trek was made in order to avoid a punitive tax placed on ships to victoria carrying Chinese passengers. Planted in '98 on relatively boney and lean soil, this vineyard tends to produce an aromatic and focused take on classic Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon. Vintage 2021 was ideal and saw a healthy yield of 8.7 tonne to the hectare.
