The Firehawk vineyard is perched atop an ancient ridge overlooking McLaren Vale, the Willunga escarpment and the Gulf of St Vincent. Selected bunches are hand picked, gently crushed into open fermenters and then basket pressed into French oak Barriques, a third new. The wine is bottled after 18 months maturation with minimal winemaking artefact to capture the essence of the vineyard and to produce a wine that will reward cellaring and decanting.

”From a single vineyard; 14 days fermentation, then basket pressed into new and seasoned French oak for 18 months' maturation. Full bodied but not bruising, the fruit feeling impeccably ripe and handled with care. Blackberry tart, loganberry, sour plum, iron and blood, earth and tar, anise and clove. The making has polish but is absent of slickness, with a slippery, silky palate netted in by a web of carefully extracted grapey tannin, the oak a quiet co-conspirator. Executed superbly.”
