Henley is named in honour of Geoff's grandfather, who passed away at the age of 102 and is the best of the best of their McLaren Vale shiraz with only a maximum of 10 barrels set aside. After approximately 15 months in oak, Geoff conducts a sensory tasting of each barrel to determine which ones make the Henley grade.

Grape Variety

Shiraz

Region

McLaren Vale

Size

750ml

Wine Style

Red - big, bold, full-bodied

Palate

The 2007 drought contitions produced tough, tannic wines in their youth, but age has rounded off any sharp edges. The core strength is there, but a complex patina has formed, bringing out a lustre and depth in this robust shiraz.

Vintage

2007

Food Pairing

Drink with Veal Forestiere, beef Wellington, sauteed mushroom, mushroom risotto and Tallegio Cheese.

”Matured for 33 months in French hogsheads, bottled Oct '10. Has soared above the reputation for toughness the vintage has always had. It is positively juicy on the mid-palate with plum, sour cherry and black fruits, the oak and tannins sewn into the fabric of the wine.”
