When the distillery was reawakened in 2008 after a near twenty year period of silence, it had been storing exceptional treasure in its coastal warehouses – rare whisky laid to rest in fine wood for decades. Over time, rich natural colour has drawn from the wood, and character has intensified to form individual and complex sensory notes. A very small number of exceptional casks are made available in their entirety to select buyers, offering a unique and exceptional sensory experience. These casks are released as a part of The Serpentine Coastal Cask Collection. Our Master Blender Rachel Barrie has thoughtfully selected Cask 49, a single Pedro Ximenez quarter cask, for its lush, complex and distinctive tropical character, as a rare example of Coastal Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky. “The taste profile of Cask 49 is a wonderful example of how exceptional and distinct Glenglassaugh is, as a whisky defined by its coastal location, when left to mature for decades. Each cask offers a taste experience that is both exciting and unique.” Rachel Barrie
