Making a ‘Damn Good Red’ wine starts with the soil. In 1974, Sydney Hamilton (1898-1987) traversed the country, before settling on a farm in Coonawarra, with ‘Damn Good Red’, Terra Rossa soil. Here, he planted vines and founded Leconfield, embarking on a life’s ambition – to grow and produce perhaps the best red wine in Australia based on the cabernet sauvignon grape. Leconfield ‘DGR’ pays homage to Sydney Hamilton’s dream - to grow and produce a ‘Damn Good Red’ wine.
