”At 46% ABV and under $150, this whisky is aimed squarely at knocking classic sherried single malt Scotch whiskies like Macallan and Glenfarclas off their perch, and if that's the style of whisky you like, I urge you to give this one a go. Unlike many Scotch whiskies these days, which are 'finished' for a few months in sherry casks after spending most of their maturation in ex-bourbon, this whisky spends its entire gestation in genuine Morris apera casks. The result is a whisky bursting with old-fashioned pulled candy sweetness and buckets of vanilla, big, bright, and fresh like a freshly opened bottle of Mountain Dew. There are not nearly as many dark red fruits and oak as comparable Scotches, but instead, they are bright and candied. Complex and cerebral? No. But heaps of fun, really well integrated and pretty bloody tasty.”
