Planted in 1997 by Kevin and Kathleen with predominantly MV6, the Musk Creek vineyard at Main Ridge is a considerably cooler, and hence later-ripening site than Tussie Mussie or Seventeen Rows. Bright red fruits are accompanied by savoury and smoky complexity and again, a touch of reduction. It’s detailed and fine-boned with ripe red fruits, pretty florals and a peppery twist. Although light on its feet, there’s power and purity here, as well as great drive and energy. It finishes with an attractive sweet-and-sour note and lingering length.

”The most structured of the Quealy pinot noirs. Full bodied, good concentration, with ripe, plush tannins and sweet, spicy fruit. Savoury notes shine through with hazelnut skins, black olives, an earthiness and iodine. It leaves an impression.”
