In 1850, 12 miles north east of Penola, Mr John Smith established a sheep station and called the site Comaum. By 1888, with the arrival of more families to the area, Comaum School was opened. Our premium Coonawarra vineyard is situated on the original school house site, and each year a special wine is released in its honour. Powerful and vibrant blackberry and ripe mulberry, with underlying notes of savoury roasted nuts and black olive. Persistent dark fruit, fine tannins and integrated subdued barrel characters deliver an intricate wine with intensity, elegance and graceful aging potential.

”Matured for 12 months in American and French oak. Impossibly blue and bright on the nose – blackberry pie, blueberry and fresh bay leaf. In the mouth the wine is satisfying and fresh, almost uncomplicated in its expression of succulent, saturated fruit flavour. It is velvety and full. The length is very good, it shows promise for the years ahead.”
