Tahbilk can trace its history with the varietals that make up this blend to 1960 and Estate shiraz vines that still survive today. In more recent times these elder statesmen plantings have been joined by grenache and mourvedre providing synergistic opportunity to produce an Estate interpretation of the classic French Rhone Valley blending of the three. This 2018 Estate release (grenache 37%, shiraz 33%, mourvedre 30%) presents lifted gamey and leathery aromatics that lead to a flavoursome palate of dark plum and berry fruits with licorice and spice notes.
