SKU: VESBRUPRI22
A collaboration between Italian TV journalist Bruno Vespa and winemaker Riccardo Cottarello, it is their passionate mission to raise the quality and critical opinion of primitivo (and the wines of Puglia) to be the equal to the more famous northern cousins Barolo, Brunello and Chianti. Their mission is to produce the best red wines South of Rome. Bruno Vepsa gave this wine his name because he wanted consumers to approach it with confidence - in both the quality and the selling price.

”Vespa winery and estate in western Puglia is a primitivo specialist, sourcing the grape from a couple of locations. The Salento Peninsula is the “heel” of Italy’s famous boot with two sea masses on either side – the Adriatic to the east and the Ionian Sea to the west. It’s worthwhile noting this while tasting this wine, together with the role of the area’s limestone in playing a part in the medium bodied brightness of the wine. Blue fruits mix with black and red cherries, ripe and rich, which form the basis of the wine joined by a host of attractive spices. It’s a fine textured wine, keenly varietal in nature but not over-indulging in either the ripeness of the fruit or the oak, instead delivering a well-balanced, vibrant, wine.”
