Shiraz, Australia’s most loved variety, planted pretty much in every region you can think of, far from a one trick pony, it has the ability to express time and place like almost no other variety, and this case celebrates that. Representing the first region in which it was planted, there’s the Leogate Estate Brokenback from the Hunter, rated 92 points by the Halliday Wine Companion, then there is a wine from a region with an identity almost completely founded on the variety, the single estate Golden Amrita from the Barossa, rated 97 points and with a pair of gold medals to boot. Holding the torch for cooler climate expressions of shiraz is the Blue Pyrenees Limited Release, a Halliday 5-star rated producer, and a wine also exclusive to Qantas Wine.
