SKU: WBBLACKAS18

Rich, generous and complex, with dark plum and blackcurrant fruit layered with savoury secondary flavours of coffee and cedary oak, typical of the characteristic black label style that overrides regional and varietal influences, yet with the distinctive structural finesse of the vintage, showing definitive power and elegance through seamless texture, beautifully balanced, lingering fruit and smooth, long, chocolatey tannins. A lifted, fragrant nose, with blackberry, cassis and dark plum fruits reinforced with roast coffee, chocolate, fennel seed, and toasted nut complexity derived from barrel fermentation and maturation, hints tobacco leaf add attractive highlights.

”56/44% cabernet/shiraz, sourced from Barossa Valley, Langhorne Creek and McLaren Vale; 3 clones in 13 parcels. Matured in French (20% new) and American (4% new) oak for 18 months, blended at the conclusion of maturation. Deeply coloured, this is full bodied, with firm tannins running through the length of the palate, trading blows with the blackberry and blackcurrant fruit, the ultimate balance calling an end to the battle. But it needs time – lots of it.”
