SKU: WOODCACAB17
Each year the Woodlands Cabernet Sauvignon is named after a family member or friend. Made since 1978, the 2017 vintage is named ‘Chloe Anne’ after Winemaker Stuart and Shelley’s eldest daughter. Woodlands Cabernet Sauvignon is sourced from the original plantings of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec and Cabernet Franc, planted between 1973 and 1976. Found on a south facing slope, these four small plots receive the greatest number of sunlight hours on the vineyard, but the east-west orientation of the vines ensures a slow fruit maturation. This wine is rated “Outstanding” in the Langton’s Classification of Australian Wine.

Margaret River

Size

Palate

The palate opens with blue fruits and violet. After time blackcurrant and brambly fruits appear, as well as undergrowth and forest floor complexities. After even more time, darker fruits emerge, the flavours integrate more, and the tannin becomes more prominent and textured. Supple but with latent power, this wine has a very long finish marked by fresh natural acidity.

Vintage

2017

Food Pairing

Parisian pork cutlets with mushroom sauce, served with herb roasted potatoes and glazed carrots.

”As with all Woodlands cabernets, once you get past the oak, the fruit is of the highest pedigree; rippling with layers of complexity and nuance. Their potential for grace in the cellar is proven. Raspberry, pomegranate, bitter cocoa, aniseed, salted tomato, Dutch licorice, sage and exotic spice hide within the savoury folds of flavour that forms the backbone of this wine. The oak envelopes it all now, but will emboss into the fruit over time.”
