Barossa Valley

The Barossa region, which also incorporates the cooler Eden Valley, is home to world-renowned producers including Penfolds, Henschke and Yalumba, and has been named on the New York Times’ list of “must-see” destinations in Australia. Just one hour north of Adelaide, the Barossa was first settled by migrants fleeing Germany and their fifth and sixth-generation descendants are still making wines.

Historic Seppeltsfield, home to some of the finest

fortified wines in the country, has been completely

revamped with its new gardens, impressive tasting

room and Fino at Seppeltsfield restaurant.


The Schrapel family has been growing grapes in the

Barossa Valley for over 140 years. The first vineyard

was planted in 1852 from cuttings carried from Europe.

You must visit their historic cellar door with their

spectacular views of the Barossa Valley.


The Yalumba cellar door not only provides wine

tastings but guests also have the opportunity to

experience behind the scenes tours of the famous

on-site Cooperage, vineyard tours and the Smith

Family Museum.

McLaren Vale

The Fleurieu Peninsula, of which McLaren Vale is the wine heartland, is just a 45-minute drive south of Adelaide and is blessed with a beautiful coastline and vineyards that produce some of Australia’s gutsiest, most flavoursome red wines. In and around McLaren Vale and Willunga in the foothills of the Mount Lofty Ranges there are 60-plus cellar doors and a warm country welcome, along with some excellent restaurants and cafés.

The first vines were planted at Chateau Reynella in 1838 and shirazcabernet sauvignongrenache, chardonnay and viognier are among the most planted grapes while lesser known varieties including sangiovesetempranillo, chenin blanc, fiano, vermentino and tannat thrive. Many of the leading wineries here are family-owned, including Oliver’s Tarangad’ArenbergCoriole, Angoves and Geoff Merrill. Also check out Wirra WirraS.C. Pannell and Fall From Grace. More than half the regional producers are members of a local sustainability program.


S.C. Pannell

S.C. Pannell was established in 2004 and has grown

the vineyard with a wide variety of wines to sample

at the cellar door. You can also enjoy a decadent

menu with wine pairings at their onsite restaurant.


The cellar door is in a restored 19th-century homestead with magnificent views. In summer visitors can select a tutored tasting or shiraz master class. Lunch at d'Arry's Verandah features local produce matched with the eclectic winery range.


Founded in 1967, this family-run vineyard is well known for producing intense but balanced shiraz, cabernet sauvignon and grenache varieties. It’s a beautiful place to visit and will be a feast for all your senses as you walk, eat and drink to taste their outstanding produce.

Coonawarra is one of Australia’s most remote wine-producing districts – but also one of its most renowned, producing world-class cabernet sauvignons and shirazes that are invariably beautifully balanced. Coonawarra is just a small dot on the map roughly halfway between Melbourne and Adelaide.

A cigar-shaped flat strip of red “terra rossa” soil runs from the hamlet of Penola to just north of the minuscule Coonawarra township – a distance of just 24 kilometres – and it is here that you'll find some of the most revered names in Australian wine, including Wynns Coonawarra Estate, Yalumba The Menzies, Katnook Estate and Brands Laira (recently purchased by the Casella family of Yellowtail fame), along with esteemed boutique producers including OtelliaBalnaves, Redman, Bowen Estate, Majella and Rymill. With Coonawarra, the coolest wine region in the state, often unable to meet demand, the nearby regions of Padthaway and Wrattonbully have thrived.

This heritage-listed triple-gabled winery was the

birthplace of the wine industry on the Limestone

Coast. The interactive "Make Your Own" blend

experience is popular and guests are invited

to buy a platter and glass of wine to soak up

the ambiance.


Taste the growing portfolio of wine at the Ottelia

cellar door whilst enjoying the sourdough pizzas

and seasonal dishes made with their own produce.


Rymill cellar door is a unique experience where

guests are invited to go behind the scenes and

sample a wide variety of wines whilst enjoying

spectacular views of the vineyards. You can also

visit their art exhibition.
