Dandelion Riesling Enchanted Garden of the Eden Valley 2022

Our Enchanted Garden was planted in 1910 and thrives to this day, a 7-acre Eden Valley Vine Garden. Whole bunches were hand-picked in the second week of March then de-stemmed without crushing the fruit to fill our press exactly. Juices from the free run and pressing were separated, then fermented in a small tank between 11 and 13 degrees Celsius. The wine has a high level of natural acidity of 7.6 grams per litre, a PH of 2.97, and although bone dry, only 11% alcohol. The 2022 Enchanted Garden of the Eden Valley Riesling was bottled directly with minimal winemaking artifacts to capture the essence of the vineyard, a looking glass if you will, and is ready to drink immediately or cellar for decades. Here's a wine demanding pre-luncheon attention, from simple charcuterie to home-shucked oysters. Fresh fruit and soft cheese? Why not? But for every bottle you drink today, you ought to keep one bottle in your climate-controlled, internet-ready, drone monitored, carbon-neutral eco-cellar for at least 5 years. Then pork rillette with toasted rye bread, on a Monday in very late autumn, in a moment of tranquility.

Dandelion Shiraz Firehawk of McLaren Vale 2020

Our Firehawk McLaren Vale Shiraz is a single vineyard perched atop an ancient ridge overlooking McLaren Vale, the Willunga escarpment and the Gulf of St Vincent.  Firehawk is our Native Bird of Prey that soar over our vineyards acting as scarecrows to other birds, rabbits and the like that eat ripening grapes.

Dandelion Treasure Trove Grenache 2019

The Treasure Trove Grenache is a part of our Firehawk Farm, a single biodynamically run vineyard perched atop an ancient ridge overlooking McLaren Vale, the Willunga escarpment and the Gulf St Vincent. Firehawk is our Native Bird of Prey that soars over our vineyards acting as scarecrow to other birds, rabbits and the like that eat ripening grapes. Selected bunches were handpicked by family and friends in early March. We gently crushed two thirds of the fruit over whole bunches into open top fermenters. After 7 days of fermentation the wine was basket pressed into French oak barrels, some new and the balance seasoned. This was followed by 18 months maturation with minimal winemaking artefact before bottling, to capture the essence of the vineyard. The wine will reward cellaring and decanting.

Dandelion Cabernet Pride of the Fleurieu 2020

The Pride of the Fleurieu Cabernet grew in the family's pride and joy, overlooking the Finniss River wetlands, Tony Brooks and Prof. Barbara Santich's dry-grown Stranger's Reach vineyard cooled by the Great Southern Ocean and Lake Alexandrina, where low rainfall and deep, alluvial soils encourage Cabernet to populate or perish.

This vintage of our Menagerie of the Barossa has a high level of natural acidity, and bone dry, it is menage a trois that makes wine truly of its time and place, a wish come true and a looking glass, if you will, and although ready to drink immediately it will also reward cellaring and decanting.

Dandelion Red Queen of Eden Valley Shiraz 2019

Our Winemaker Elena Brooks crowned Colin Kroehn's Eden Valley Shiraz vineyard as our Red Queen. Its age, altitude, aspect and slopes are the key. Colin tended his beloved Shiraz vines for most of his life's 90 years and our Red Queen is made entirely of his vineyard. Planted in 1912, on a south facing slope of limestone bed rock covered with loamy sands absolutely laden with quartzite, the vineyard survives to this day. The rocky outcrops of quartz are spectacularly coloured with ironstone streaks, and sit over a c.1600 million year old Barossa Complex basement of gneiss and schist. On March 31st whole bunches of flavour ripe Shiraz were hand harvested, then we gently crushed two thirds of the grapes over a third of whole bunch fruit and naturally fermented in open fermenters for eleven days, hand plunged three times a day, before careful basket pressing into half new and half one year old French Oak Barriques to finish fermentation.  After two and a half years maturation and a racking in the same oak, we bottled this eleventh vintage of Red Queen without filtration or fining, to capture the essence of the vineyard. Dandelion Vineyard’s Red Queen will reward cellaring and decanting. Thank you Mr. Kroehn for this legacy.
