2015 was a vintage with exceptionally high quality tannins and so, at harvest, a decision was made to preserve the pressings from the grapes that were normally destined for MERITE Merlot independently. At the time of pressing the wine, they were diverted and kept separately in 2 year old French oak. During assemblage, these Merlot pressings were blended with a small amount of Cabernet Sauvignon in new oak to create this MERITE Ultra Merlot - to which only 745 bottles were made.
