The Stonehaven Winery was originally built by Hardy's in 1998. Located in the heart of the Limestone Coast, the winery benefits from the region's unique terroir, including rich soils and cool evening temperatures perfectly suited to the production of premium pinot noir.

Amisfield Pinot Noir 2022

Amisfield was established in 1988 and is a Central Otago based specialist producer of Pinot Noir and aromatic white wines, sourced from fruit grown on their Single Vineyard Estate, situated beneath the glacially sculptured Pisa mountain range. Vineyards are managed holistically through organic practices focused around nurturing Amisfield’s unique soils, vines and habitats – this combined with a rugged inland location and an extreme semi-continental climate, yields wines of remarkable purity, intensity and vibrancy. The vineyard at Amisfield Estate beneath the dramatic Pisa mountain range of Central Otago is New Zealand’s most spectacular wine region. The privately owned estate, once a prominent high country merino sheep station, is now one of the largest single vineyard estates in the Central Otago region with over 90 Ha (222 acres) planted and farmed organically. The rugged inland location affords a semi-continental climate, with exceptionally cold winters, hot summers, cool evenings and low rainfall. This unforgiving environment gives generously to flavour. The unique growing conditions combined with glacially derived soils produce wines of remarkable purity, intensity and vibrancy. A state-of-the-art purpose-built winery is the focal point of the vineyard and is designed to enable winemakers to craft wines with minimal intervention and as naturally as possible. At Amisfield they are committed to sustainability and environmental responsibility at every step of the process. The vineyard is now managed entirely organically and is in conversion to full organic certification with New Zealand’s leading organic certification body BioGro. The Amisfield experience extends to a world-class Bistro & Cellar Door at Lake Hayes, Queenstown. Here, guests can experience the array of wines they produce every year accompanied by the freshest local produce.

Pyramid Valley Snake's Tongue Pinot Noir 2022

This is the second release of Pyramid Valley’s Snake’s Tongue Pinot Noir from the estate’s impressive Mānatu vineyard, located in the Lowburn sub-region of Central Otago. Planted in the mid-2000s by Jean and Roger Gibson, the former Lowburn Ferry property sits on a gentle, north-facing slope in the foothills of the Pisa Ranges. A key trait of the site is its soils: loess over deep silts that have developed pedogenic lime deposits. With high pH and suitability for growing world-class Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, these soils proved the main drawcard for winemaker Huw Kinch, viticulturist Nick Paulin and owner Steve Smith MW.  The 10.2-hectare property is home to a patchwork of Pinot Noir clones—Abel, 667, 777, 114, 115, 943, 828, 115 and clone 5—playing into Kinch’s preference for clonal mix in the vineyard and the winery. The Snake’s Tongue block is a 1.9-hectare plot in the southeast corner of the vineyard, with this release drawn from a 0.7-hectare parcel of Abel clone planted in 2007. (The remaining 1.2 hectares comprises new high-density vines—clones 828, 943 and 115—planted in 2018/2019.)

Dexter Mornington Peninsula Pinot Noir 2023

Aromas of dark cherry, blackberry, bay leaf and thyme with subtle floral fragrance and hints of oak. It has a soft entry with mid palate fruit sweetness and lovely texture. Fine tannins and balanced acidity result in a wine with good texture and length.

Brokenwood Indigo Vineyard Pinot Noir 2023

Medium density with bright red hues. The nose has very attractive bramble, warm spice and cherry fruit notes. A soft entry with forest fruits and excellent fruit tannin complimented by the whole bunch used in fermentation along with the French oak used. A fresh acid backbone carries the ripe fruit flavours right to the finish. It will increase complexity with bottle age or can be enjoyed as a vibrant pinot noir in its youth.

Kumeu Village Pinot Noir 2023

In April 2017 we took possession of a vineyard at Rays Road in Hawkes Bay that was already planted with Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. The vineyard soil is wind-blown clay loess over limestone, so we were particularly keen to see how these varieties performed.  2018 was our first vintage from Rays Road and we were excited by the potential we saw with the Pinot Noir. The 2023 vintage was challenging and consequently we did not make any Rays Road Pinot Noir. This meant all of the Pinot Noir fruit of the fruit from Rays Road went into this Village bottling

Lambrook Seed Pinot Noir 2024

Lambrook began in 2008 with two small parcels of fruit (shiraz and sauvignon blanc) and a half-crazy idea of making it into our own label wine. It was something we’d always wanted to do—we dreamed of people ordering our wines in restaurants. So, when we were offered these parcels of spectacular quality fruit, we thought… let’s just go for it! This is exceptional small batch, handcrafted, single vineyard pinot noir.

Mandala Sands Yarra Valley Pinot Noir 2024

A beautiful blend of fruit from Gruyere and Wandin in the Yarra Valley. Predominantly MV6 clone, the fruit from Wandin originates from 40 year old vines on own roots. A portion of the fruit was whole bunch fermented to improve structure and elevation of aromatics alongside whole berry open ferments gently plunged daily and pressed to a mixture of barriques and puncheons (approx. 20% new oak). The wine was matured for 11 months in 40% new French oak barrels

The Varietal Series is deliciously un-confusing. Approachable, fruit-driven flavours with balanced acidity  for everyday drinking. Screaming for friends and cheese  platters.
