The Paradox is not what you might expect from a wine from the northern Barossa. It’s not the high octane, lots of new oak stereotypical northern Barossa Shiraz, but rather a softer, more gentle velvet-like and savoury style of wine.

Taylors Jaraman Shiraz 2023

The 2023 vintage is a full-bodied wine that combines fruit from both the Clare Valley and McLaren Vale. This wine won ‘Shiraz of the year’ at the prestigious London Wine competition. 70 experts chose the Jaraman Shiraz over France, Portugal, Chile and New Zealand.

Shaw and Smith Shiraz 2022

The Adelaide Hills was long considered too cool to ripen shiraz. By the early 2000s, though, the potential for outstanding shiraz from the right sites in the Adelaide Hills was compelling, and the first Shaw + Smith Shiraz was made in the 2002 vintage. Since then, shiraz in the Hills has gone from strength to strength. Shaw + Smith Shiraz is a medium bodied cool-climate shiraz, in which balance is more important than power.

Sherrah Shiraz 2021

Single vineyard, whole berry, small batch open ferment. Matured in 15% new and 2-3 year old French oak. The king of the Vale. A medium to full bodied Shiraz, bridging old style charm and power with new style freshness and structure. Fruit from the Lacey vineyard in the Tatachilla sub region of southern McLaren Vale. Sandy Loam over limestone base scattered with ironstone fragments, 1654 clone vines planted on their own roots. Fruit was machine harvested by a Pelenc Selectiv® harvester with onboard de-stemmer, this resulted in the grapes being delivered straight to the open fermenter requiring no further destemming or crushing. Whole berries, cultured yeast, hand plunged for 14 days then gently pressed to seasoned French Hogs Heads plus a new French Puncheon and Hogs Head (15% overall). Natural malolactic fermentation occurred, aged for 20 months prior to bottling.

Ulithorne Immortelle Shiraz 2021

The fruit was hand picked from our premium vineyard in McLaren Vale. It's intensely ripe and full bodied, vibrant aromas of black fruit and hints of pepper spice, soft tannins, and a subtle earthiness.

As mentioned in the name of the case, you’ll find a wine normally retailing at $150 from Cape Barren of McLaren Vale, rated 97 points by Wine Orbit. There’s also the excellent Alpha Crucis Southern Cross Shiraz from Chalk Hill, rated 96 points and with a usual RRP of $100, and the unparalleled single-vineyard Barossa shiraz from Golden Amrita, rated 97 points by Wine State Magazine.
